A friend of mine has forwarded to me one of your daily comment pieces where you discuss global warming/climate change and in particular Christopher Monckton's 'refusal' to provide a copy of the document in which he avers that there is to be a world government if the Copenhagen Treaty is to be signed into law . You can find the document at

http://www.globalclimatescam.com/documents/un-fccc-copenhagen-2009.pdf ; it is 181 pages long but the page you are looking for is 18 Clause 38 a).
I get the impression that you don't agree that the science is settled on the issue - go looking for 'medaeval warm period, and the hockey stick graph ( the algorythm for this graph is such that it does not matter what data you input the result will always be a hockey stick shape - go on try it - input every single one of Don Bradmans innings from 0 to whatever his highest score and lo and behold the answer will come out as a hockey stick shape. Can you think of any reason why the proponents of humans causing the warming of the planet would want to 'fix the result'?I can. By all means argue rationally about the evidence but whichever side of the argument you are currently on ad hominem attacks on individuals like Christopher Monckton do not help. If you would like to see the document which points to 35 errors in 'An Inconvenient Truth' just ask. I'll email you.

I am very suspicious when people start scaremongering about "world government". This is the story promulgated by the nutty Jehovah's Witnesses and other fundamentalist Christian groups. So I would say that it would be very important to ask Lord chinless what his relgious views might be (as an aside) to work out whether he is working backwards from his crazy right wing religious views.
I mean, come on, we are hard pressed working together in any capacity at any level, not just in government, but even in the workplace, to ever facilitate the birthing of a world government.

Dear Kris,

If you want a non political, easy to understand book on 'The science of Climate Change' please read "The Weather Makers" by Tim Flannery. Hopefully then you'll be able to make some informed comments.

Climate change policy is so classic of the simple way in which people look at policy. The Greenies say "We need to do something" and when the Coalition say wait to after Copenhagen, the Greenies say "no, we cant wait - the world will end, we need to act NOW, we needed to act YESTERDAY...ahhhhhh it hurts, the world’s core is heating under my feel!"

TOTAL RUBBISH!

They lose all credibility when they argue for a sense of urgency. This is where politics corrupts the process.

If policy was actually designed for the greater good and with rational analysis (in some hypothetical utopia), there would not be pressure to get something done ASAP. The pressure to 'take action' comes from Rudd trying to outdo Turnbull and win over the Greenies and the wanna-be-do-gooders!

But rest assured Kris, although the idea of combating climate change sounded good when all it meant was wearing a cute badge, holding up a placard and throwing your milk cartons in the recycling bin – it wont be as popular when people understand how it will affect their back pocket.

For me, what we need to do as a nation is put more and more money into R&D for renewable energy sources. This is something we should be doing from an economic perspective – not just environmental policy. We don’t want to be held hijack to rising oil prices in the future and we have an abundance of sun, wind and thermal power in Australia.

We also need ot adjust the way we consume - once again, this is partly from an economic perspective. The throwaway society we live in chews through waste like there is no tomorrow. I work with people that refuse to read anything off a screen (and I mean they cant even read a small artile without printing it out first!).

These are simple ways we can adjust the way we live to lessen out impact on the environment. This should be our first priority - before we allow Governments of the world to complicate and stuff things up as per usual
