Inflation Silently Works to Destroy Your Wealth

by Kris Sayce on February 26, 2010

This morning we’re still chuckling away at Christopher Joye’s ‘revelation’ about the stock market being risky – 11.6 times riskier than cash apparently. Bless him.

We’re looking forward to his next bombshell. Maybe he’ll reveal to the world that water is wet! What? It is? [Shae, quick, get Einstein, Newton and Faraday on the phone right now. They've got some explaining to do!]

But thanks to Money Morning reader John, there’s something in yesterday’s email that we didn’t point out. Here’s the offending quote from Joye’s ‘Equity Finance for Home Owners: The Next Revolution in Housing Finance?’ paper that we quoted from yesterday:

Dubai Debt Meltdown a Parallel With Australian Property Market

by Kris Sayce on November 27, 2009

What a night on the markets. The London Stock Exchange goes “down” for three hours due to a technical glitch, and once trading resumed it finished the day “down” more than 3%.

Ouch!

On top of that Dubai kindly let everyone know that it’s in a spot of bother. You can imagine the conversation:

“Er, you know all that cash we borrowed to build those fancy pants buildings, well, there’s a glitch, ha, ha, ha. Any chance of extending the repayment deadline? We’re still good for it Guv, honest!”

And the Aussie market is taking a pasting this morning too. All I can say is I’m glad we recently recommended to Australian Small Cap Investigator and Australian Wealth Gameplan subscribers that they start using trailing stop orders.

Possible that Price of Gold Can Keep Going Up?

by Kris Sayce on November 24, 2009

If the price of something has risen by 45.06% in the space of a year, does that mean it is a price bubble?

Not necessarily, but it’s a question worth asking.

Take a look at the chart for gold priced in US dollars below:

1 Year Gold Price in USD/oz

Even in the last two months the price has burst through the USD$1,000 level and is now trading comfortably at USD$1,164.

You Should Stuff Your Portfolio Full of Income Producing Stocks

by Kris Sayce on October 27, 2009

I’ve only got a brief Money Morning for you today as I’m wrapping up the October issue of Australian Small Cap Investigator.

I’ve got two new buy tips waiting to be released to paid subscribers, so I’m just quickly running through these notes while our design team is laying the report out.

If you’re a subscriber you should look for it in your inbox later this afternoon.

So, while I’ve got a spare 15 minutes or so before I head back to finish up on Australian Small Cap Investigator, something else came back to my mind.

Westpac Loss in New Zealand Court Case Prompts Stock Market Reaction

by Kris Sayce on October 9, 2009

The stock market reaction to Westpac’s loss in its New Zealand court case was wonderful.

If you haven’t seen the news, then you won’t know that Westpac has been told it must pay almost $1 billion in back taxes to the New Zealand tax office.

The response from the market? Westpac shares finished 3% higher.

That reader, is something that can only happen in a bull market.

It is perhaps, confirmation the bull market has well and truly begun.
