Legal Marijuana in Canada Passes Another Hurdle

Canada is now one step closer to legalising weed.

Today, the House of Commons has passed bill C-45, the bill that’s set to make marijuana legal in the country. However the next test is set to be the legislation’s biggest — the Senate.

Canada’s conservative senators have threatened to stall the bill. An act that could jeopardise the government’s plan to have the law passed by July.

Still, the fact that the bill passed with a vote of 200–82, shows it has a lot of support behind it. And that’s good news for Canada’s pot stocks.

Gearing Up for the Green Rush

Canadian marijuana companies have been on a tear recently. Just look at some of these recent results:

Canopy Growth Corp [TSE:WEED] is up 19% in November. Similarly Aphria Inc [TSE:APH] is up 55% this month. And Aurora Cannabis Inc [OTCMKTS:ACBFF]  has made a staggering 171% gain in November as well!

Those are some serious returns. And with today’s news coming after hours for Canadian markets, you can probably expect to see a few of them shoot higher again tomorrow.

It could be the start of what is looking like a big year for Canada’s weed market in 2018. And it could net investors a whole lot of profit.

And in Australia there are plenty of ‘pot stock’ opportunities as well. You just won’t find them amongst the blue-chips. These are small cap companies with big returns.
